We would like to believe that we can become the best DJs we know on our own, but that simply isn’t true. After all, without exposure to other DJs how would we have gotten interested in DJing in the first place? Humans are creatures that learn by experiencing and witnessing, so it is natural to feel inspired and to take ideas from other DJs even if we are unaware of what we are doing. Mixtapes are commonly made by DJs of all types, not just mix DJs. Often times a scratch DJ will release a mix tape that showcases his scratching skill as well as his or her taste in music.
Sometimes a producer will even go as far as mixing his own set of produced tunes into an hour long track for his or her fans to listen to. Although these have been produced for the listeners and fans …

Numark has more than enough products to choose from, in fact, too many. If you’re only going to buy a pair of Numark turntables, then your choices will be narrowed down to little more than what can be counted on two hands. But if you’re going to buy your first controller with very little knowledge of what is out there, Numark’s variety can be overwhelming. Just look at the Mixtrack line of controllers – how can you know which is a better deal, other than by using the price? One thing that can be said about Numark products in general, is that the second edition of any product is usually a large improvement over the first.
Numark’s first controllers were chock full of problems, or at least complaints from DJs. The tactile feeling of the buttons is still the subject of many arguments over Numark products. They certainly aren’t going …

NAMM 2011 and 2012 saw the unveiling of a whole host of DJ controllers from some of the top manufacturers including Pioneer, Numark, Denon, Vestax, and even the illusive Native Instruments unveiled their Kontrol F1 at an off site location in 2012. NAMM is also the place where a lot of companies allow the public to play on their new designs in an almost faux test market to see how people react and then subsequently make a few last minute adjustments. NAMM 2013 was no exception in this regard but Numark was really the only company unveiling a high performance controller with the Numark NS7 2. Nearly every other DJ controller manufacturer was unveiling low cost, portable, and lets face it, entry level controllers this year. This may have come as a surprise to most of you expecting to see the latest and greatest improvements to the DJ …

We sometimes have artists and DJs stop by our studio to check out some gear. They give some of the new stuff a spin and we like to get their views and opinions especially if it’s something they’re not familiar with. Such was the case when acclaimed Atlanta DJ GTFO came by the HQ for the Numark Mixtrack Pro Challenge. He, like many other DJs who use a traditional performance set-up of 2 turntables or CDJs and a mixer, has made the switch to using a controller almost exclusively for his live performance. We challenged him to throw his set down on what many consider to be a “beginners” DJ controller, the Mixtrack Pro. We captured the performance and then spoke afterward about what he thought about it. Here’s the scoop.

Every once in a while we receive emails from our customers thanking us for the support we provided them. Here is one that stood out.
Frank Mazzuca contacted us because he wanted to get his son a DJ Controller that is great for beginners but still fully functional for Professional gigs. He spoke to one of our Pro Sales Representatives, Scott Magno, and they both agreed that the Mixtrack was the perfect product.
“I introduce to you DJ MooseHead. Moose is my son’s nickname at school. First gig was a major success…just wanted to share the love.
PS: he loves his Numark gear!”
The best part about this story is that Marcel Mazzuca aka DJ MooseHead is only 13!
