Arturia Prophet V Review

Arturia is one of the few vintage synthesizer makers that is still alive and kicking  today.  Their classic gear is in limited supply (if at all) and in heavy demand, so it’s natural that software emulation of these synthesizers is so common these days.  For those that cannot afford a piece of history, there is exceptional software out there like Arturia Modular V 2.6, which runs on Mac’s OSX and comes at a decent price.

Today, Synthtopia takes a look at another piece of emulation software out there, Arturia Prophet V.  Neil of airusersblog takes a lot at the sequential circuits the make up the Prophet 5.…

Review: djay 1.6 for iPad, iPhone & iPod Touch

So now that Algoriddim’s new version of djay (version 1.6) is out on the market – what has been changed, and what’s better about it?  The first that that you’ll notice is that there haven’t been any obvious changes to the interface, unless you’re one of the lucky few to have scored a new iPhone 5 – in which case you’ll take advantage of the extra screen space with more visible options at your finger tips.

Of course the most anticipated change was Apple’s doing, with their updated iOS 6.  The dual stereo output means that live cueing and listening is available using both the headphone jack and the 30-pin connector (if you have an iPad).  In usage, it works as advertised.…

Hercules RMX2 & DJuced 40 Degrees Review

If you are familiar with the Hercules line of DJ controllers you may notice some familiar things about the RMX2. At first glance it looks very similar to the Hercules 4MX with the same design and shape of that popular 4 channel controller. The release of the DJ Control Air earlier this year garnered enough attention that Hercules decided to integrate the four pads from that controller onto the RMX2. So what you essentially have is a hybrid controller merging the designs of two popular controllers in their line into one controller that has all the features and functionality of a pro DJ controller but at a fraction of the price. This is the sort of thing we come to expect from Hercules which has been a consistent player in the market for low cost and fully functional DJ controllers.

This is how you do a DJ gear video review: Decksaver for Kontrol F1

Let’s face it; some of us DJs and producer aren’t exactly delicate with our gear.  Sometimes it isn’t even out fault.  Playing out always has it’s hazards – mainly drunk people who don’t realize that placing their cheap beer next to the mixer is an disaster waiting to happen.  On the other hand, bedroom DJs can be clowns too and think it’s funny to put an entire pizza atop a turntable to see what it looks like when it spins.

For those of us who know better, Decksavers has been a godsend that will literally prevent the slow destruction of your equipment.  These high quality plastic covers are idiot proof and will protect your devices, like your Kontrol F1, from certain harm.…

Epson Pro Cinema 6010UB 3D Projector Video Review

Listening to mixed music can only take you so far, and the few video DJs out there who use videos in their shows know this.  If you’re into video mixing you probably understand just how many challenges and difficulties it presents to have everything go off without a hitch.  Add-ons like Rane’s Video SL for Serato Scratch Live help make the transition easier – allowing you to mix video simultaneously.
