The design of a headphone is on that is expected, and swaying too far from the original idea will get your put into a corner fast. In the recent years headphone design has gotten more space-aged and less functional looking. Old radio headphones went with a Spartan design, with ear cups that were adjustable on one axis using wires and screws. Using that same design in a modern set of cans would not win you very much support. Headphones need to sport some type of minimal design that also allows it to rest comfortably on the ear. So basically, the way they look needs to match up to the way they feel on the ears.
Over the ear headphones have the reputation of looking sort of wonky when they aren’t placed on the head. Some of them look almost comical once they are padded over the ears. Outsiders can laugh, …

Reloop has gotten good at keeping up with gear for DJs and producers. At your next electronics trade show you should expect to see their gear as well. For those who don’t know, Reloop has not been around for very long. They are not like Numark or Pioneer, who has spent decades in the music gear industry – but Reloop is special in that they have made conscious choices to go with one route over another. Right off the bat they introduced their own DVS program, with the gear to go with it, and instead of creating turntables and CD players, they went with an all-digital route. It is perfectly understandable that they would not branch out in too many directions at once.
They also have many headphone options which cater not just to the DJ-minded, but also the casual listener as well as the producer. While not as technically …

In fact, if you look at this year’s Coachella festival, you’ll notice that this type of music is coming back around; as it always does. DJing went from mixing music, to creating music, to creating music as part of a band with other musicians. For the turntablist who has held on to his medium for all this time – it brings me joy to see it being used in music creation once again. Manufacturers aren’t giving up on the turntable either; in fact, they’ve made attempts to modernize it.
Reloop has been making their rounds creating everything from DVS to mixers, and now they’ve even pulled out all the stops on branding a new turntable. Their RP-6000 shares the design of the …

Headphone designers are getting closer and closer to creating the perfect set of head cans – but they are not there quite yet. First, there is the issue of trying to please everyone who puts them on. It isn’t going to happen. If only we are all born with the same size ears and the same shape head, but we aren’t. So there is no one-size fits all solution – but we are getting pretty close. The other end of the deal is the price, and this is the real deal breaker. We know that we can find the perfect set of headphones that has everything we would possibly need, as long as we pay top dollar for it. This is the platform that Pioneer has setup for themselves – but there are other avenues to explore.
Reloop has made a name for itself by expanding horizontally within the industry. …
