There are few artists that can flip a track like AraabMuzik can. If you’re familiar with drumming on the MPC or any of its variants, you probably understand that your skills are meek in comparison to his. He is perhaps the king of finger control, with his aggressive triggering style and impeccable timing. Feel free to bow down.
His most recent work has been his remake of Sleigh Bells – but it isn’t exactly the mashing mayhem that you’d expect. His signature sound is still there, but the song itself is more of a melodic joy inducing track that could be qualified as a radio softie.…

We were expecting the Kontrol F1 sometime in the next week so it was completely unexpected that someone with one would show up unannounced. By the time I had arrived in the office, I found the team frantically skirting around the room setting up the set. I had been planning on doing an F1 demo when the unit was released and had only began to plan something out in the days prior to our unexpected visit and was unprepared to demo the unit on a whim. I made a call to one of my friends that produces tracks with me and asked if he would send the stems from our latest track for a demo.
At about 11 o’Clock the artist made his way back to the video room carrying with him a suitcase full of just about any piece of NI gear you can imagine. His name was Phillip and …

The MC3000 is the latest controller to be released by Denon DJ. It is a welcome edition to their current arsenal of slick products and the little brother to their acclaimed DN-MC6000. We received an advance demo unit from Denon DJ last week so we could give it a test drive and a proper review. We discovered some very likable features from this controller and decided to share. Here’s the scoop.
The MC3000 is a 2 channel Traktor controller with the ability to use 2 or 4 playback decks, 2 sample decks, as well as the loop recorder. It is small and constructed of mostly metal with hard plastic sliders and rubberized knobs and buttons, some of which are back lit in either red, amber, and green. It has 1/4″ balanced, and RCA unbalanced outputs on the top, and a 1/4″headphone output on the front. It has 2 …

DJ Solomon, AKA Jackmaster Solomon, was introduced to the art of DJing through the mixtapes of Farley Jackmaster Funk, DJ Terrence Parker, DJ Godfather and DJ Assault. Though he’s been a hip-hop fanatic from the beginning, he was also heavily influenced by the Detroit House and Ghetto-tech club scene of the mid 90’s. Armed with a fake ID, Solomon ventured into the Pontiac and Detroit clubs not to drink or party, but to follow his favorite DJs – just to listen to their music and watch them control the crowd like magicians. This fascination with DJing quickly turned into a passion. By his second year of college in 1999, he finally owned his very first turntables and mixer.
In 2006 Solomon made his Atlanta debut at Breaklanta VI, one of America’s largest break-dance competitions. His first residency came in 2007 under the tutelage of DJ Rasta Root and his monthly
