Bye Bye ITCH, Hello Serato DJ

The boys over at Rane have been busy working on their newest controller software, and this means the end for their short-lived bastard child software, Serato ITCH.  Serato DJ is the name of this new controller software; but it’s more than just a name.  Improvements have been made that put it in the ranks of Traktor and friends – especially in the effects department.

No screenshots have been leaked yet, but pertinent facts about the upgrade have been released.  Midi mapping has finally been integrated into the software, allowing you to sort out external controllers the way please – and 8 cue points are now available (instead of 4) with a host of new effects like flanger, ping pong delay, phaser, and distortion.  User of Numark’s N4 will have the ability to control 4 decks through Serato.  …

Serato (Officially) Releases SSL 2.4.3, Itch 2.2.2, & Video 1.1

The beta trial period for the latest edition of Serato Scratch Live is finally over.  We can thank the users who took the plunge and tested out the new revisions to the software, discovering any bugs or glitches that may have come with it.  Scratch Live (2.4.3), Itch (2.2.2) and Video SL (1.1) have all been given updates – either to add features or increase performance.

Scratch Live’s most notable update is the ability to use FLAC format files, which had been asked for since the inception of the DVS.  Also, support for OS X Mountain Lion was also kept in mind for the many Mac users out there.  The Visual interface for Serato Video was adjusted to show video preview screens with more space to show the library.…

Digitialdjtips.com was nice enough to share 10 hidden Traktor tips, which many DJs did not know exist.  Now they have posted another list to please the other half of the coin, Serato users.  Their 10 hidden Serato ITCH tips will save you time behind the screen, and hopefully free up your hands to take care of other, more necessary tasks at hand.

BPM’s can be set to half-time or double-time using the alt and cursor keys which is good if you are constantly switching between dubstep and drum and bass tempos.  The ctrl feature that is popular on windows machines has the same function in your Serato playlists – now you can edit multiple tracks at once.  Many more tips are given over at their tutorial page.…
