Identity Festival 2012: In the Studio

Artists from all over the world came together to play the Identity Festival Tour this summer. In the blazing heat, on burning hot asphalt, even in torrential rains they kept the music playing and the crowds dancing. But when they needed to escape the elements after their set, we were ready and waiting. We parked the Mobile Studio by the stage. We cranked the AC and stocked the fridge with cold drinks. After a little R&R we turned the artists loose in the studio, powered up our cameras, and let the magic begin. Identity Festival 2012: Stephan Jacobs

While the Mobile Studio was touring the East Coast with Identity Festival, our team had the pleasure of meeting Stephan Jacobs, a music producer from LA. Not only did we get to jump up on stage with cameras and film some of his live set (which was fantastic), but we also got Stephan to come onto the Mobile Studio and tell us a little bit about himself. He shared some of the big things he has coming up like his tour with Pretty Lights. ┬áBe on the lookout for Stephan Jacobs. On the Road with Identity Festival

When reporting on EDM festivals previously I have taken the perspective of a rock fan at an electronic music show. While it would be enjoyable to write here about Identity Festival the same way I wrote about Ultra, it seems the blog I wrote from that perspective has been imitated by others reporting on the festival. While I will take that as flattery, it seems redundant at this point to take an outsider’s perspective. In fact I have been immersed in the EDM sound for over a year now (a little late to the party I know) as well as the production it takes to craft a festival worthy track (only witnessed and not a party to). With a better understanding of the music, sub genre after sub genre, and the supporters of the EDM scene, it seems more appropriate to give you all a review of the festival …
