Summerfest Sessions: Vital

With an album coming out this Fall, the band Vital has already begun to make a name for themselves on the West Coast and are looking to start making headway on the East Coast. Formed by former hip hop artist Vital in San Francisco, the band also has members from North Carolina. Unhappy with the current state of popular music, Vital looks to set themselves apart from the mainstream but still bring a sound that is palatable to nearly every musical taste. Taking influences from Radiohead, Mutemath, and Coldplay, they would describe their sound as alternative if begged to do so, but the guys in Vital like to think that their music is a mixture of what every guy in the band brings to the table when recording and performing live. We were fortunate enough to have them come track an acoustic version of their song “Stupid” from the Vital …

Identity Festival 2012: Le Castle Vania

Atlanta native and world touring DJ/Producer Le Castle Vania is a force to be reckoned with. Hitting the underground rave scene in Atlanta as a teenager, Le Castle Vania has spawned one of the biggest local followings in the city and has won the thumping heart beats of hundreds of thousands of ravers and electro music aficionados. In addition his music has taken on a life of its own which has required him to set up shop in his Los Angeles studio when he is not playing packed houses. Le Castle Vania is always making music and is a skilled engineer, producer, and songwriter if you didn’t already know. Taking influences from heavy, gritty, and hard sounds, Le Castle Vania lit up stages all across the U.S. this year on the Identity Festival Tour, and we were there to catch it all.…

Identity Festival 2012: Stephan Jacobs

While the Mobile Studio was touring the East Coast with Identity Festival, our team had the pleasure of meeting Stephan Jacobs, a music producer from LA. Not only did we get to jump up on stage with cameras and film some of his live set (which was fantastic), but we also got Stephan to come onto the Mobile Studio and tell us a little bit about himself. He shared some of the big things he has coming up like his tour with Pretty Lights.  Be on the lookout for Stephan Jacobs. If he is coming to a town near you, we highly recommend that you catch his show because we thoroughly enjoyed it.…

Summerfest Sessions: Cherri Bomb

Los Angeles based band Cherri Bomb are an all female, 4 member rock band. Formed in 2008 by singer Julia Pierce. They have gone from garage rehearsals to some of the biggest stages in the world and opening for acts such as Filter, Foo Fighters, and The Smashing Pumpkins all within 4 years after forming. Managed by drummer Samantha Maloney , you wouldn’t guess the members of Cherri Bomb are just teenagers from hearing them. The oldest member of Cherri Bomb is 16 years old. At such a young age, these ladies have a knack for performance and composition that would make the majority of us seasoned musicians put down our instruments in deference to the next generation.…

We will be releasing weekly episodes that include the tracks recorded by some of the festival’s performers, as well as interviews where the artists talk about their music, their studio experiences, their impressions of the mobile studio, as well as the gear we use on board the mobile studio. With over twenty tracks recorded on the mobile studio throughout that week, you can expect a lot of content coming out in the remaining weeks of the summer and into the fall.…
