Le Castle Vania: Personal Studio Gear

It’s no big secret: EDM producers work almost exclusively on their laptops. Anybody could get a laptop, the right software, and produce tracks just like Le Castle Vania or deadmau5, right? Well, almost. We toured the 2012 ID Festival with Le Castle Vania and had the pleasure of bringing him onto our bus. Le Castle Vania talked about some of the outboard gear he uses in this part of the exclusive interview on the UniqueSquared Mobile Studio. He’s come a long way from remixing tracks in his bedroom to headlining festivals and he shared that journey with us. You can check that out here if you missed it. Also, be on the lookout for the final part of Le Castle Vania’s interview in which he gives some guidance for any up and coming artists.

Le Castle Vania: How I Got Started

In case you missed it, Le Castle Vania toured with Identity Festival as one of the bigger names in their lineup. The Mobile Studio crew had the pleasure of meeting Dylan Eiland (the artist’s real name) and watching Le Castle Vania’s live set. But the coolest part of the tour was when we asked if he would want to come check out the Mobile Studio, and he said yes. We even got to interview Dylan. Luckily we had our camera batteries fully charged because he had so many good things to say. This is the first part of the Le Castle Vania interview. In this part of the interview Dylan shares with us how he got his start as a producer and DJ. Be on the lookout for the next part where he talks about his personal studio gear.…

Summerfest Sessions: Kingsfoil

Hailing from central Pennsylvania, Kingsfoil are Jordan Davis (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Tristan Martin (Backing Vocals, Guitar), Tim Warren (Bass), and Frankie Muniz (Drums). Starting in 2007, Kingsfoil released the EP, “Bear in the Attic” and in 2010 they released their full length album, “On Our Own Together.”  They are currently gearing up to release their new record which should see a release later this year. The band has gone through a few rhythm section line up changes but kept the two founding members Tristan and Jordan at the helm. Their newest member and former actor Frankie Muniz is a welcome addition to the band and their interview gave the impression that these guys have been old friends for years. Without committing themselves to a particular genre, Kingsfoil describes their sound as pop rock but always comes from a place of song composition that can resonate with audiences and allow them to …

Identity Festival 2012: In the Studio

Artists from all over the world came together to play the Identity Festival Tour this summer. In the blazing heat, on burning hot asphalt, even in torrential rains they kept the music playing and the crowds dancing. But when they needed to escape the elements after their set, we were ready and waiting. We parked the Mobile Studio by the stage. We cranked the AC and stocked the fridge with cold drinks. After a little R&R we turned the artists loose in the studio, powered up our cameras, and let the magic begin. Check out this video with Space Jesus, Mr. DOT, and Stephan-Jacobs working on the Mobile Studio.…

Summerfest Sessions: Alexa Carter

Touring with Staind frontman Aaron Lewis and slated to head out on the road with him once again, big things are happening for singer and recording artist Alexa Carter. With the release of The Ballerina EP earlier this spring, she is headed back into the studio to record her first full length album. Without pigeonholing Alexa Carter into a particular genre, she likes to describe her sound from those artists which influence her like OneRepublic and Sara Bareilles.…
