Amy Winehouse had it pretty rough in the end – between the media harassment and her own substance problems, her life spiraled out of control.  Fortunately, memories of her still live on, and Nas has even posted one of his earlier collaborations with the later singer.

The song they produced together is Cherry Wine, and is featured on Nas’ album “Life Is Good”.  This song and others like it really showcase the maturity of Nas, and how a career in the rap industry has shaped the man he is today.  The video features a stand in who is meant to portray the image of Winehouse.…

Paradigm Tribute 30th Anniversary Speaker Video Preview

The term “special edition” can sometimes be little more than words tossed around to sell a regular production run product with a little extra trim to make it seem more unique.  For Paradigm Audio, their Tribute 30th anniversary is truly a once in a lifetime production, that will never be made again.  While not spectacularly different from their usual offerings, they do come coated in a dark garnet gloss veneer, which has never been seen before.

Their tweeters are also made from pure beryllium and the look of the front cone has been updated to suit this limited run.  Expect to shell out around $6000 for a pair of these rare floor speakers.…

Watch: Fiona Apple Tells Houston Audience About Jail Time

Fiona Apple’s arrest made headlines in the musician community, but was also far reaching and was written about in newspapers across world.  The singer had spent the night in jail and was slapped with a heft bail price, given the amount of hash and marijuana she was caught with.

Her performance in Austin was postponed, but she had the chance to share the details of her arrest to her Houston Audience.  She describes how some of the officers were respectful, but a few of them abused their power when detaining the singer.  She wanted to make sure her audience understood exactly how she felt at the time.…

How Can I Add Visuals On The TV Behind Our DJ Booth?

Would adding visuals do your DJ set improve your show, or would it detract from the DJ and the dance floor itself?  This is a good question that isn’t easily answered.  Only a handful of DJs actually used video in their performances – for a number of reasons.  Managing mp3’s can be stressful enough, but trying to carry as much video as you can to gigs isn’t as simple, and takes up a lot of space.

What should be shown on video?  There are also several good ideas to consider, each with their drawbacks.  If a DJ shows a replication of his DVS screen, will the crowd’s surprise be lessened by their ability to train-spot the DJ?  Will the crowd even want to dance if they’re staring at a screen?…

Laibach – Warm Leatherette

“Warm Leatherette” was a track originally produced by The Normals, during the birth of synth-based music in the early 80’s.  Their original song alluded to gruesome car accidents juxtaposed to the cold reality of digitally produced music during a British industrial area.  Laibach covered the the original tune, giving it more emotion while retaining the true character of the song.
