Review by OperamanI'm very happy with this interface. It hooked up fast and easy to my iMac. It sounds VERY GOOD! The Focusrite preamps are excellent! I got it for a great price at UniqueSquared! It arrived promptly as advertised. It's a solid unit, very professional in looks and results. It's definitely THE BEST interface in its price range. Thank you Focusrite and UniqueSquared for your excellent service! 5 stars!

Review by TomAt the price, it's a great performer. It works great on my new 2.5GHz quad-core i7 Macbook pro with 8G Ram running Logic Studio. I was apprehensive at first with the outdated firewire (this interface is set up for firewire400). Nowhere on the manufacturer's website nor on Uniquesquared.com did it say anything about this. It was a nasty surprise when it arrived and I couldn't use it. I was very upset at first, but the problem was solved with a $15 moshi 400-800 adapter purchased through Apple (surprisingly the best deal!). The adapter works perfectly. I haven't really maxed out this thing's potential yet, but since I primarily record only a few voices at a time the 8 inputs are more than adequate.
2 separate headphone jacks are a nice feature as well as the midi inputs and phantom power. The combo jacks are great! So convenient and, thus far, reliable. I've had it for about a month so this review is an early one, but I've heard good things about this product and so far I agree.
I found out, after chatting with a focus rite rep., that the system is expandable through optical cable to connect another PRO40 yielding 16 inputs (that's 8 combo jacks on each plus a set of midi in-outs on each unit) so for another $370 I could set up a much larger project and really max it out. The rep. said that, while you could chain 3 of these units together, it's not recommended because latency issues and other problems could arise.
I haven't used this feature yet, but it is also rack-mountable. This was another selling point for me because down the road it will fit in with other gear in a rack and make organization of space as well as transportability much easier.
PC users and users of older computers may be dissatisfied (from what I saw reading various reviews), but with my up-to-date computer I am pleased with my set-up.
Yes, I recommend this product.
