nanoPAD Overview by UniqueSquared - PRESS PLAY

The nanoPAD is part of Korg's nanoSERIES USB-powered slimline controllers, so small you can put them on your workstation, in front of your laptop, on a recording console, or anywhere else you need versatile control over your DAW, virtual instrument, effect, or DJ software.

Despite its small size, this MIDI controller goes big when it comes to functionality. It's intuitive layout provides extremely easy operation for any user. The Korg nanoPAD features 12 highly responsive trigger pads capable of sending both notes and MIDI control data, plus an X-Y pad with roll and flam functions to give you a unique interface for realistic drum programming.

Even if the Korg nanoPAD MIDI controller is your first foray into MIDI control, you can rest assured that you'll be able to get connected to software quickly. The nanoPAD comes complete with a download code for Toontrack's EZDrummer Lite, offering super-realistic, highly responsive drums in a convenient plug-in, plus you can upgrade to the full version of EZDrummer for a special price. You also get a free downloadable Editor/Librarian to help you create setups to suit your specific control needs in all three models.

  2. Nanopad - Stuck Pads - Pads not working - Solution Review by AbletonPaul

Mine arrived with only 6 of the 12 pads working. In Ableton I recorded a midi track and ableton showed that most of the buttons were held down. I didn't particularly want to return such a cheap item so I searched the web for solutions. After finding many ideas including gluing extra pieces around the bottom of each pad to lift them (no!), I finally found a solution that looked credible on youtube. Basically you take it apart and you will find two plastic films glued together each containing a circuit, as those come together they register a key-press. All you have to do is pull them apart and stick them back together and "et voila!" works perfectly. My model had a manufacturing data back in 2009 so I guess it had been stacked in a pile of boxes and got stuck down. Follow the video, be careful to pull the two pieces of plastic apart rather than pulling the pair off the back metal plate.

Just in cxase links don't work, it is the usual main youtube address plus /watch?v=BuomrJNd0cM

Now that it works and I have resolved my latency problems in Ableton, it is an excellent addition to my setup. (Posted on 3/13/12)

  6. Simple and intuitive design Review by Nick

This unit is very simple to use and figure out. It has a nice feature to switch between 4 groups on the fly and the integrated roll feature is nice to have also. I am not a huge fan of the roll pad, the finger tracking doesn't appear to have the best resolution, although it does work very well. I wish the roll feature had a custom speed setting, the lowest speed setting is typicall still too fast for a lot of the times I want to use it. Overall, for the stellar price on U2 here, this unit is great, very simple and easy to use, you'll be up and running in no time. (Posted on 3/1/11)
