Like many online buyers, I shopped around for the lowest price from a vendor with high ratings and/or satisfactory customer service. That endeavor didn't prove as fruitful as the price barley fluctuated from vendor to vendor. So then I started looking for the best DEAL on the Firestudio Project and that's when Unique Squared came up. For the same price as other vendors were selling the Firestudio Project for, Unique Squared also threw in the HP4 and two sets of headphones. Mind you, the HP4 and the headphones aren't premium components, but for a budget conscious DIYer like myself, this deal was irresistible.
The Firestudio is a great interface and as of this writing, I have two in a daisy chain going into my MBP (2009) and my DAW is Logic Express. My only gripe with the Firestudio is that even though I have followed the instructions on how to connect the daisy-chained devices to the computer, I have to disconnect/reconnect, sometimes several times, before the secondary daisy chained device syncs properly. This ONLY happens when I have a just powered on O/S session. Once the devices are synched, I can record for hours without issue.
The folks who have come to record on my system had no issues with the headphones and although they couldn't get an individualized mix (that's the Presonus HP60) in their phones, they did like the quality and clarity of the mix and that they could at least have independent control of their own headphone volume.
All in all, if you're after a Presonus Firestudio project, this is a great deal to invest in.
